This is our research on ecosocial movements that were active nearby between 2021–2051.
We started the project as background research for a Corpus Crisis ritual, but we discovered so many beautiful findings that we decided to gather them here to share with you.

2024 |
The Bodies in common -movement (acronym BIC) started in 2024 from the need to have a community-run space for practicing somatics, body work and other embodiment practices. The forming members were a group of disability justice activists who were tired of being excluded from most places designed for movement. They wanted to build a community and a network for mutual aid that centers around body work for people who are marginalized in different ways. |

SLOW MOVEMENT |
---|
2028 |
At its core, Slow Movement is about radical accessibility, about us Crip people leading the way. Many of us Disabled/Crip people feel we have been pushed aside from every movement and organization, except from disability rights/arts organizations. The Slow Movement is about everyone waiting for the slowest one and picking up that person's pace to move together as a united, clumsy front: towards a slower, more just, and sustainable world. |

JUURTU |

2031 |
Juurtu-culture is a sub-movement within techno-ecotopian feminist movements. The name refers to roots and rooting – "juuret" and "juurtuminen" in Finnish language of that time. Active since 2031, the movement studies the roots and construction of different cultures. It acknowledges culture as a set of practices that evolve with the environment and advocates for living cultures. ANTINATURALIST MOVEMENTS |
---|
2040 |
The term Antinaturalist movements describes a semi-organized, porous group of movements, that focused on deconstructing the concept of “natural”. Antinaturalist movements continued the ideas that for example accelerationist and xenofemninist movements, de-composition hacktivists and ENDUTRANCE had started, but developed to a clearly independent branch of thinking as a reaction to the rise of ecofascism. |

EEE |
---|
2038 |
Due to climate warming, the major energy enterprises became the center of politics. EEE was an international movement that wanted energy enterprises to be subjected to democracy. When people understood that counting their carbon footprints and living a climate-friendly life didn’t actually eliminate climate emissions, they started to dig deeper than plastic bags and came across the concept of energy: the fuel for all of society’s functions. |

CANDAMA |
---|
2042 |
It isn't easy to assess if Candama was a movement or what kind of movement it was. It came to life in the autumn of 2043 and gathered eight individuals living in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area. Fascinated by the idea of collapse, yet concerned by the breakdown of their livelihoods, Candama members fought for emancipation in mundane gestures. During their journey, which lasted until 2046, they sought to cultivate careful attention through experiential learning and ephemeral capacity-building. An ode to hopelessness, Candama's legacy lives through their slogan time is never lost. |
